Naureen Azharuddin is a former cricketer who played for the Indian national team and later coached the team. Azharuddin was born Naureen Khaled on February 15, 1958 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. She is the daughter of late Hossain Mohammad Khaled, a prominent Bangladeshi businessman and politician who served as the country’s Minister of Commerce and Industry (1977–1979), Deputy Prime Minister (1981–1991), and Prime Minister (1991–1996). Naureen Khaled followed in her father’s footsteps and became an active businesswoman before entering politics. In 1990 she married Mofizur Rahman Chowdhury, a wealthy businessman and son of one of Bangladesh’s leading politicians. The couple have two children: Ayesha and Mohsin.
